Liquid Argon Storage Tank

Liquid Argon Storage Tank

Product Overview

Liquid Argon Storage Tank is a cryogenic pressure vessel with jacket‑type vacuum powder insulation for storing liquid argon (LAr), also compatible with liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen. It consists of tank body, instrument piping system, valve accessories and pressure booster. The tank adopts double‑layer structure: inner cylinder made of austenitic stainless steel for low‑temperature corrosion resistance; outer cylinder of carbon steel. Liquid argon is delivered under pressure generated by the pressure booster.

Insulation performance depends heavily on jacket vacuum level. Most operational faults are caused by vacuum degradation. The pressure‑bearing inner cylinder has no manhole and the outer cylinder works under negative pressure, so inner cylinder cannot be inspected directly. Periodic inspection focuses on outer cylinder, accessories and site environment.

Heat ingress is inevitable even with good insulation, which raises tank pressure and temperature. Closed loss‑free storage is applied to reduce argon boil‑off and prevent air contamination of medium.

Operation Notes
  1. Mainly for liquid argon; mixing other cryogenic media is not recommended.
  2. Check shell dents and vacuum exhaust port before filling. Shell damage destroys vacuum, leads to frost on tank top, excessive argon loss and tank failure.
  3. Keep inner chamber clean and dry; remove foreign objects to avoid inner‑cylinder corrosion.
  4. Avoid impact for mobile tanks; inspect safety valves and pressure gauges regularly.
